Three businesses show up in the map when someone searches for what you sell. Everyone else is below the fold.
Think of the map pack as the shelf at eye level in a grocery store. The product on the middle shelf does not taste better than the one near the floor. It just gets picked more, because it is the one people see first. The top three map results earn 17.6%, 15.4% and 15.1% of clicks, near enough to identical. Fourth place is where the drop happens, you may as well be invisible.
Google decides that on three things: how close you are to the searcher, how well your profile matches what they typed, and how established you look. You cannot move your building. The other two are work, and that work is local SEO. The Ask Maps update has changed how those signals get surfaced.
It is a set of specific jobs, not a monthly mystery. Here is the work.
Your profile is the thing that ranks in the map, not your homepage. We set the primary and secondary categories, write the services list, add photos, and keep the information current. Categories carry more weight than most owners expect, and most profiles have the wrong ones. This is the core of our Google Business Profile management service.
Your name, address and phone number get listed across directories: Apple Maps, Bing Places, Yelp, BBB and more. When those listings disagree with each other, Google trusts all of them less. We fix the conflicts, then add new ones at a steady pace.
We monitor reviews, respond to them, and build a system for asking. Recency matters as much as volume, which we cover below. Reviews now feed AI answers as well as Google.
Two posts a week, every week. Posts keep the profile active and give Google fresh signals to read.
The services on your site have to match the services on your profile. When they drift apart, Google gets a muddled picture of what you do. We line them up as part of our broader SEO services.
Map rankings and profile insights, reported monthly, so you can see position change rather than take our word for it. Here is how we read those numbers.
Most agencies make you book a call to hear a number.
Here are ours.
Profile optimization and management, local keyword research, a profile and NAP audit, category and services optimization, two profile posts a week, two directory citations a month, map ranking monitoring, and a monthly report.
Best for a business that ranks fine on its own name but not on what it sells.
Everything above, plus the full SEO program: technical fixes, on-page work, content, and competitor gap analysis, with map and organic strategy run together rather than side by side.
Best for a business that wants the map and the blue links at the same time.
SEO, maps, and AI search in one program, including SEO and AEO blogs, paid backlinks, and social content.
Best for a business in a competitive market that wants to be found in Google and in ChatGPT.
No lock-in contract on any of them. You keep your data if you leave.
1. Free strategy call (30 minutes). We look at your profile and your market together and tell you whether it is worth it for you. Sometimes the answer is no.
2. Audit (week one). We check your profile, your categories, your citations, your reviews, and how you currently rank across your service area.
3. Strategy (week two). You get the plan: what we are fixing, in what order, and what to expect by when.
4. Execution (ongoing). Ryan runs your account. You get a named person, not a ticket queue.
5. Reporting (monthly). Map positions, profile insights, calls and direction requests. We reply to questions within one business day.
If customers do not come to you, this works differently, and most advice ignores this.
A plumber, an electrician, a mobile groomer and a contractor all have the same problem: Google ranks them from a pin they cannot move. A storefront can lean on proximity. A service-area business cannot.
So the work changes. You hide the street address and define the region you cover, which is a setting most profiles get wrong. Categories and the services list carry more of the load, because relevance has to make up for what proximity will not give you. Reviews that mention the town where the job happened do more than reviews that mention the service alone. If the map is your priority, our Google Maps SEO work goes deeper on ranking across a service area.
We also set expectations honestly here: a service-area business will rank strongest near its pin and weaker at the edges. Anyone who tells you otherwise has not run one of these. The fix for the edges is usually a location page for that town, such as our Orangeville SEO page, not more work on the profile.
That is why we build location pages alongside the profile work rather than instead of it.
14 years in business. Founded in Orangeville and still run from there, with 25 years of hands-on marketing experience behind the strategy.
4.6 stars from 37 Google reviews. Worth stating plainly, because of what the research says. 47% of consumers will not use a business with fewer than 20 reviews. 31% will only use one rated 4.5 stars or higher, up from 17% the year before. respondents.
Among the first AI search agencies in Canada. We were optimizing for ChatGPT and Perplexity citations while most agencies were still deciding whether AI search counted. Local SEO and AI search feed each other. The same profile data, reviews and consistency that win the map pack are what AI engines read when they answer “who should I call”.
No lock-in contract. Month to month. If we stop earning it, you stop paying.
You keep your data. Your profile, your accounts, your analytics. They are yours when you arrive and yours if you go.

We work across Ontario and Canada, remotely and in person.
Our head office is at 9-75 First Street, Suite 118, Orangeville, Ontario. We work with businesses in Dufferin County, across the Greater Toronto Area, Western Canada and as far as Fort Worth, Texas.
Our Local Google Maps package is $500 CAD a month. Adding full SEO takes it to $1,150 a month. Across the industry, small business local SEO usually runs between $300 and $2,000 a month depending on how competitive your market is. Anyone quoting under $300 is likely automating citations and little else.
Our base SEO package is $800 CAD a month, and local-only work starts at $500. What decides the number is competition, not company size. A plumber in a town of 30,000 needs less work than a plumber in Toronto, so the plumber in the town pays less.
Profile changes such as categories and services can move rankings within two to four weeks. Citations and reviews take longer, usually three to six months for a stable position. Anyone promising the map pack in 30 days is guessing.
Yes, and the setup is different. Service-area businesses hide the street address and define a service region instead. Categories, services and reviews then do more of the ranking work, because you cannot rely on being close to the searcher.
They affect rankings and they affect whether anyone calls after seeing you. 97% of consumers read reviews for local businesses, and 74% want reviews written in the last three months. Recency is why we build review generation into the monthly work rather than treating it as a one-time push.
The map pack is still the shelf at eye level, and three businesses in your market are on it. If you are not one of them, the reason is usually fixable and usually visible in an hour.
Book a free audit and we will show you where you currently rank across your service area, what is holding the profile back, and whether the work is worth it for you. Sometimes it is not, and we will say so.
